Guess What Songs??

Guess What Songs??

Hello there,

As you may or may not know, we're about to release a brand new CD. We have kept the details a secret until now...

For the last year or so, we have been hard at work on a cover album full of songs that we love.

The album is getting soooo close to being done now.

We are planning a Halloween release, (if we can finish up the last few things in time)!!

We thought we would have a little contest, and offer some prizes.

So here is the deal...

Guess which 10 songs and artists that we have covered, and the entries that come the closest to figuring it out will win.

Hint: The cover album is 10 songs (one artist we choose two songs from).

What will you win?

Grand prize: $50 credit from the Noiseplus Store,(includes Saints & Sinners).
Runner up prize: $25 credit from Noiseplus.
Third Prize: A signed copy of the brand new CD.
Fourth Prize: A signed copy of the brand new CD.
Fifth Prize: A signed copy of the brand new CD.

Play along and have some fun with it.

Here is how...

Post publicly so other people can see your entry...either on Myspace, our Forum, or on Facebook what 10 songs you think might be on the album. Enter as many times as you want. List the song choice and the artist.

Depending on how things go...we may offer a hint or two.

We will keep the contest going until we are ready to announce it which will be in the next week or so.

Ready set go!!

Love,
Collide

Busy, busy, busy

Busy, busy, busy

If you haven't been keeping up with us on our Twitter, Facebook, or MySpace sites, you've been missing out on a lot of what we've been up to for the most part of this year.

We've been busy working on a new album, which we're hoping to release sometime near the end of October. More details to follow very soon. Mixing is completed on all but 1 song!

We just did a photo shoot last week with our good friend Dave Keffer, who has helped us at different times with everything from artwork to photos and videos, to our website makeover last year.

Here is a sneak peek from the shoot

Lots more news and surprises to follow soon, so sign up for our mailing list/newsletter on our site. For our daily updates, check our social networking sites above. We've been pretty good Twitterers, and kaRIN's even posted a picture or two from her iPhone.

Awards Season

Awards Season

Awards season is gearing up. And although we haven't heard about any Grammy awards (yet!!), we have been nominated for a couple of awards from Just Plain Folks.org.

Just Plain Folks is a community of over 51,500 Songwriters, Recording Artists and Music Industry Professionals — and host to the world's largest independent music awards.

We have a couple of nominations this year. Two Headed Monster has been nominated for Best Alternative Album, and "A Little Too Much" was also nominated for best Alternative Song.

Since the awards cover two years, The Secret Meeting Ultrashiver" was also nominated for best Industrial Album, and "Blacker Than Blue", and "Every Little Thing" were nominated for best Industrial songs. We're not sure that we agree with the industrial category for The Secret Meeting, but hey, we just make the music.

Thanks to Brian Austin Whitney and Just Plain Folks for helping independent musicians everywhere.

Reviews by Mick Mercer

Reviews by Mick Mercer

We just received a couple of new reviews from ex Melody Maker writer Mick Mercer.

One was for Dean Garcia's newest project, SPC ECO, which we are distributing in North America.

(SPC ECO) "Together they extract the heat from some essentially grumbly soundscapes and make them strangely sweet, but never sickly. When a bright tingly guitar marks the appearance of ‘For All Time’, with a reassuring bass beneath and some big clumping drums, the addition of winsome vocals sets you up for a cool, restful sound, in which the guitar burrows through hotly...‘Shine On Down’ is quite a humming bird rave of a thing, like Julee Cruise blissed out in the clouds, casually deconstructing some early Cocteaus."
Check out the full review here.

He's also posted one of our Two Headed Monster.

We like his writing. Here's a tidbit from the review.

"‘Spaces In Between’ swipes the best china off the table and slaps down tectonic plates instead, the rhythmical fizz scampering as the vocals remain imperiously controlled, the song like a giant figurehead of a ship transplanted onto a lethal skateboard. Looming, zooming. It’s a crazed little caper, and we all like those..."

Harpers Island

Harpers Island

Collide's music will be featured tonight on a Harpers Island, which is a new murder mystery show on CBS.

Each week a new character dies and every person is suspect... oohhhhh how suspenseful!!!

We hear that people are setting up drinking games to guess the victims and the murderers. Bloody Mary's anyone?? We would give you a hint...but we have no idea. It is all top secret.

On the CBS Website they have a "pick the victim game" where you can win $1000...while your at it tell them you are glad they are playing cool music =).

The show airs tonight on CBS @ 10pm ET/PT (check your channel listing for details).

Harpers Island has been compared to Agatha Christie meets Saw. So... if you are looking for a little drama in your life... stay tuned for tonight's episode where they will be playing our song "Transfer" from Chasing the Ghost.

Spooooooooky funnnnn.

Noiseplus Music to release SPC ECO, pre-sales begin today!!

Noiseplus Music to release SPC ECO, pre-sales begin today!!

This is something that we are really thrilled about.

We began our music label Noiseplus Music purely for the purpose of enabling us to release our own music. Recently something has come up that we just could not resist.

For the first time ever, Noiseplus Music will be releasing another band!!

SPC ECO is Dean Garcia's latest musical project. The group includes Dean's bass and production skills alongside the angelic vocals of Rose Berlin and Joey Levenson's Sonic Guitar FX. Dean of course worked with us on The Secret Meeting.

We love the CD and we think you will too. The CD, entitled 3-D, is a brilliant ride, and we couldn't be more excited to get a chance to present it to you.

The release date is scheduled for April 21st, pre-sales are starting today!!! Check the store for sound samples & details.

Here is a little preview of what to expect...

SPC ECO (pronounced Space Echo after the vintage Roland 201), is a spaced out hybrid of "nu gaze tripadelica" that combines soul-lifting, mind expanding, heart soothing bliss with monolithic beats, heavy bass grooves, and layers of effects...a beautiful cacophony of ambient noise echoes.

Into the Future...Collide on NCIS

Into the Future...Collide on NCIS

We are starting 2009 with a BANG!!!

We have some GREAT news... our song "Head Spin" from Two Headed Monster has been included on the NCIS Soundtrack!!!.

NCIS is currently the #1 TV series in the US with 20 million viewers per week. NCIS has used Collide's music in Abby's lab since the inception of the show, so we are super thrilled to be included on the soundtrack.

The soundtrack is a 2 disc CD. Disc two features music from Abby's Lab. Abby (Pauley Perrette), is the ultra loveable perky goth, who works in the forensics lab and listens to cool music, including Collide.

All of the music on the soundtrack is set for prominent placement in NCIS episodes beginning in January. You can hear Collide on the show on Tuesday Jan 6th 8pm ET/PT. At the end of the show they will announce the music featured on that nights show.

The NCIS website is very cool and interactive with the entire track listing, NCIS Soundtrack News, Artists Bios, 90 second clips of each song, links to fan sites and artists websites, and song lyrics available for those songs with vocals.

The soundtrack is now available on Amazon for Pre-Order.

Here is the track listing:

Chain DLK

"TWO HEADED MONSTER could well be the breakout album for Collide, bringing them a much broader fan base than just the dressed in black set. One well-placed track on a TV series or a movie soundtrack could propel them into the spotlight. Unlike a lot of bands who achieve "overnight success", if TWO HEADED MONSTER is any indication, Collide are ready for it."

and another one from the UK

Kerrang Magazine

"This is what Cristina Scabbia's side-project with Trent Reznor might sound like."

e're still working hard on getting the word out there about "Two Headed Monster". We put three new reviews up on our reviews page from Bite Me, Radio-Active-Music, and The Triskelion Society.

If you've already got your copy, then tell your friends to get it. Tell your grandma, tell your hamster, tell your favorite dominatrix. Post a blog somewhere...we really appreciate all of your help.

And don't forget to sign up for the Collide mailing list, because from time to time we send out discount codes for the store, and other news you probably need to know. The mailing list is on the bottom right of the page at Collide.net, which is probably where you are right now.

"...some of the band's best work to date, "Two Headed Monster" offers some of their most intricately written songs, while still maintaining that classic Collide sound."-Radio-Active-Music

"The fourth studio release from, the appropriately dubbed “darkwave” band, Collide is a must have for your scene music collection. Industrial sounds and melodic rhythms by Statik blended with the often haunting, never disappointing vocals of kaRIN form the perfect audio soundtrack (minus some sounds of pain of course) for your next bondage and flogging scene."-The Triskelion Society
