Morpheus Music review

Morpheus Music review

A new review for Bent and Broken from Morpheus Music.

... The unity of Bent and Broken is quite a coup considering the diversity of the styles encountered - gutsy, plastic, digital mangling; harsh industrial electronica juxtaposed with synth washes and feminine vocal expressions; dreamy gothic nocturnes and fractured cyber-lullabies. Bent and Broken is perhaps the ideal introduction for anyone not yet familiar with Collide.

Fear.net reviews Bent and Broken

Fear.net reviews Bent and Broken

"The first half Bent kicks off with some of its most impressive tracks, beginning with an ominous, throbbing remix of "Mind Games" from Counting to Zero (which is an excellent single in its original form) by cEvin Key and Skinny Puppy collaborator Ken “HiWatt” Marshall; "Orgy,” an eerie, serpentine cover of a tune originally created by Cure frontman Robert Smith for his side project The Glove, featuring some of kaRIN's best vocal work; and an ultra-cool cosmic cover of Queen's "She Makes Me,” based on a solid foundation of acoustic guitar and now one of my all-time Collide faves. Another standout is the title track, which appears here for the first time, and pulses with the same dark energy of the opening cut, but with a lighter, more inquisitive touch..."

Thanks to Gregory Burkart and Fear.net, for the great review of Bent and Broken... especially nice, on this Halloween. Read the whole review here.

First Bent and Broken review from Glasswerk

First Bent and Broken review from Glasswerk

"...The sound is expansive and full of beauty and resonates long after...It’s pure reveling in the material making it as loud and bombastic as it can get."

"Across the board it’s pretty much top notch production value. Bent and Broken will make Collide fans go back and excavate and re-evaluate previous works in their original incarnation to discover what seeds are there that caught the remixers’ ear in the first place. Very much recommended."

Bent and Broken

Bent and Broken

We've been a little silent with any news coming out of the Collide camp lately, but don't think it's because we haven't been busy. It's just because we've been in the studio making lots of new things for you.

The big news is that our remix album is coming along, and is in the final stages of being completed! The title of the album is Bent and Broken. It features songs from both Counting to Zero, as well as Two Headed Monster. We aren't going to give away all of our secrets yet, but the album is going to be a double CD, (or extra big download) with 26 tracks.

New video for "Bending and Floating"

New video for "Bending and Floating"

We have a new video for you of "Bending and Floating". It was directed by the very talented Edward Mavskegg, (who also made our video preview for "In the Frequency". We hope you love it.

The video will probably also answer a few of questions that a lot of you have been asking...Can kaRIN fly a spaceship? How did Collide start? Is kaRIN an alien? All of your questions will now be answered.

"Mind Games" on MTV??

"Mind Games" on MTV??

We got an email last week from MTV, letting us know that our video "Mind Games" could possibly get into rotation next week, IF we get enough votes on their site. We're only up against FOUR other bands, so we can do this! We haven't made a video in quite a while, so it's pretty exciting news. If you're tired of boy bands or rap taking over, now is your chance for your voice to be heard!

Re Gen Magazine review

Re Gen Magazine review

We have a new review from one our favorite sites, Re Gen Magazine.

After reading the review, I guess we just do what we do, but we do it well.

(Counting to Zero)... is full of the same rich production and performance we’ve come to expect and love....There are those artists and bands whose sound is so distinguished and identifiable that you immediately know what to expect when a new album is released. In some cases, this is a detriment indicative of a lack of progress or exploration, while in others, it is simply the musical DNA that binds the whole of the artist’s output together to form a cohesive path of development and style.

Thanks to Ilker Yücel for the write up, and check out the full review here.

Underworld Awakening Soundtrack

Underworld Awakening Soundtrack

We have some great news to finish out the new year with. We have a new, unreleased song, called "Intruder", that will be appearing on the Underworld Awakening Soundtrack, due out Jan. 17th, next month.

We have some very good company on the soundtrack, including The Cure, Ministry, Evanescence, Combichrist, and 8mm. It was one of our goals for the year, to make it on the soundtrack, so we couldn't be happier.
