Signals

Over the next few months we’re going to be releasing a series of singles—one by one. Some of you may know these songs. Some of you may not. We’ve been thinking a lot about our music, and the songs we love that may not have reached the people who’d love them most. So over the next few months, we’re putting them out there again, one by one."

Like many independent artists, we’ve found it increasingly difficult to get our music heard. The music industry loves to tell artists how they should be doing things. What genre we should fit into. What trends we should follow. What we should be or do to make it past the algorithm gatekeepers. We’ve been told we aren’t electronic enough, we’re too electronic, we’re not dark enough, we’re not pop enough, and everything in between. The truth is, we’ve never made music to fit a mold—we make music because it’s what we love to do, but if you don’t fit neatly into a single box—you get buried. We’ve tried playlist placements, promotional services, and directly contacting literally 100's of music blogs and playlists—yet breaking through remains a challenge.

We know a lot of people out there would love our music if they just had the chance to hear it. Maybe they lost track of us, and just moved on. Maybe they never even knew we existed. That’s why we’re doing this.

We are putting out 2 releases: Signals (Volume 1), and Signals (Volume 2). (At the moment, these are just going to be digital releases, with no physical pressings). Volume 1 will feature songs from our first 7 albums, while Volume 2 will feature songs from albums 6-12. Sure, we could have just made a playlist, and hoped that everyone would find it, or pay attention to it, if it was on the right platform, etc. That was a lot of “ifs”. Instead, we've gone in the studio to make these songs the best they could be—with new mixes, a little edit here, a few programming tweaks there, and new mastering. These aren’t just re-releases; they’re the best versions of these songs.

Now, we need your help. Word of mouth is everything. Forget algorithms. Music is not meant to be served up by some formula. If our music has ever meant something to you, help us spread the word. Add a song to a playlist. Share it with a friend. Tell YOUR people. Talk about it. That’s how music lives. That’s how it finds the people who need to hear it. If you’ve been with us since the beginning—or even if you just discovered us—we’d love for you to help spread the word.

We can’t wait for you to hear these songs again—or for the first time. We can’t wait for you to hear what’s coming. We’re just getting started.

xx
