Dracula's Ball Review

Wow what a great time, we are back now and just recovering!!

We had an absolutely amazing time, and it could not have been a better experience for all of us. The Ball was tons of fun and we had a great time playing. The promoter Patrick and his crew were amazing and took great care of us. It was good to meet so many people in Philly.

Here are some really great pictures of the show taken by Kyle Cassidy

You can see a little of our backing video in the background of some of the pictures which contained artwork from a lot of very talented artists, and was put together by Mr. Black

We also enjoyed meeting and watching Ego Likeness play. They put on a great show and were so kind, offering to help us with anything we needed. We met Eric from Tapping the Vein, and he was exceptionally sweet. We also met the folks from Hungry Lucy and it was good to talk to them as well.
We are still delirious from the experience of having such a great show. It was definitely surreal to finally get out there and play. Here is a picture of what we saw from the stage.

Thanks to all the people who came out, and to everyone for making it such a great experience for us.
We will begin making some plans for future shows and will keep you updated as soon as we know more.

Collide Contests

So do you want a chance to help the band, show off your skills and maybe win some free things?
Collide is running a couple of contests...
First...design a t-shirt...
The t-shirt will be silk screened, and should have a maxium of 3 colors,
so all designs should be able to work with those constrictions.
Full color designs just aren't possible for us to print.
What you will win: The winning design will get $100 of Collide merchandise.
Hint...if it is pictures of us for the t-shirt, we probably wont love it...think logo, graphics, designs, etc...photos do not translate that well. Think of something you would want to see on a t-shirt.
Second... design a collide banner...
banner size 468 x 60 pixels
We will need a few of these.
What you will win: The top three designs that are chosen will win a free CD, or T-shirt of your choice.
Hint: We like moving things.
Third...design a collide related desktop image.
We will also need a few of these.
Hint: Be creative.
What you will win: The top three designs that are chosen will win a free CD, or T-shirt of your choice.
Although, we will make the final decisions, we may have a vote to help decide the winners...so post them up here in their respective categories.

Deadline Date: Please submit by October 4th.
Happy creating!!!

Collide Live

We're thilled to announce that Collide is finally going live...

Here is a press release for Collide's first show written by promoter Patrick Rodgers...

Over the course of eleven years, the popular alternative band has kept fans happy with five fantastic full-length albums, all of which have received critical acclaim and impressive sales figures. Magazines around the world have written about Collide's recordings, praising their heady blend of electronic and industrial grooves with passionate, evocative female vocals. Admiring their photos (lush and sensual, like their music) as well as their sound, Gothic Beauty Magazine named Collide its Band of the Year for 2003. But even with everything that Collide has delivered, its fans have been patiently waiting for one more thing: a concert.

On October 31, 2004, that patience will be rewarded as Collide performs its
first live show ever. With increasing demands from promoters in many
countries and an ever-expanding fan base, the band finally had to make the
time to prepare for live performances.

"During the past few months we've got together a great bunch of musicians to help fill out the live version of Collide, and have been busy with rehearsals. The songs are taking on a new life of their own. I think it's been a greater experience than either of us ever expected," say Statik

Collide's debut concert will take them from their Los Angeles homes across the country to Philadelphia, site of the country's largest gothic event, Dracula's Ball. Taking place four times per year, Dracula's Ball is produced by Dancing Ferret Concerts and has often played host to exclusive American debut concerts for popular European acts. "For the Labor Day Dracula's Ball this year, we'll be flying in Qntal from Germany for their exclusive American debut concert," says Patrick Rodgers of Dancing Ferret. "Flying in Collide from Los Angeles for a worldwide exclusive debut on Halloween is a no-brainer. People have been pleading with us for years to convince Collide to play a live show. This will be the hottest Halloween ticket in the country, without question."

The principle members of Collide, Statik and kaRIN, met in 1993 at a Los Angeles industrial club. Statik, who is responsible for all of the music and production, has lent his skills to such artists as Tool, Leonard Cohen, Love & Rockets, Powerman 5000 and Skinny Puppy, to name a few. kaRIN provides vocals and lyrics, and also has her own line of handmade, decorated metal cases called "Saints and Sinners." The duo chose the name Collide as a description of the clashing and melding of their styles and
talents into a powerful whole.

Dracula's Ball takes place quarterly in Philadelphia and has been covered by numerous magazines and television programs. 2004 coverage has included Billboard Magazine, National Geographic Television, and German TV program Schattenreich. Dracula's Ball events feature live bands and DJs from around the world, as well as a mini-marketplace of vendors, other entertainers, door prizes, and more. Collide's exclusive worldwide debut concert will be part of the twenty-seventh Dracula's Ball event, which will take place at Egypt Nightclub, located at 520 N. Columbus Blvd. After considering many talented bands, Baltimore-based group Ego Likeness was ultimately selected as the opening act for this special debut concert. The group's blend of passionate rock and roll with smooth synths and emotive female vocals should certainly please fans of Collide. The band's second full-length release, "Water to the Dead," was recently released on Noir Records ("a gorgeous record," says veteran music critic Mick Mercer), while their debut disc, "Dragonfly," will be reissued this Fall. Reviewers have praised not only the band's varied musical arrangements, but also the group's ability to lyrically explore themes of damage and survival without being mired in despair. Egypt Nightclub boasts three separate dancefloors, all of which will be open for Dracula's Ball. On the main floor will be DJ Ian Fford, a veteran of numerous NYC venues including Webster Hall, Downtime, The Bank, Mother, and many more. DJ Kelly Ashkettle of Salt Lake City and DJ Rickbats of Champaign, IL will also appear.

The Halloween Dracula's Ball party featuring the worldwide exclusive debut of Collide takes place at Egypt Nightclub, located at 520 N. Columbus Blvd and happens from 9pm-2am. All ages are welcome; patrons wishing to drink alcohol must be 21+ with proper ID. Tickets are $15 in advance, available through Ticketmaster or isotank.com, and go on sale Saturday, August 14th. Information on Collide's worldwide debut concert at the Dracula's Ball can be found at:

Jane Magazine

Look for a review of Vortex in the June/July issue of Jane Magazine.
Here is the review...
" Collide's latest venture into gothic darkwave, Vortex, is a two-disk collection of decadent aesthetic brilliance. Vortex has tracks to please every dark-minded eccentric out there. With trippy vocals from the stunning kaRIN and twisty musical mixes from mysterious hottie Statik, this band always brightens my nightmares. Boo "

In unrelated Collide news, here is a great song by Monty Python's Eric Idle..."The FCC Song"
"Here's a little song I wrote the other day while I was out duck hunting with a judge. It's a new song, it's dedicated to the FCC, and if they broadcast it, it will cost a quarter of a million dollars."

Sex and Collide
We're not sure why...but any reason to listen to Collide is a good reason to us

Our Canadian distribution...Storming the Base of the Alien Foe recently informed us that there was a surge of sales in Calgary. We think we may know why....Comatose Rose Magazine( based in Calgary), recently sent us this bit of information.

Also, according to Amazon.com, Some Kind of Strange is #4 in Patchogue, New York..maaybe there is a lot of action going on there as well.

Music and Healing (see, it's not all about sex.)
A new interview is up with kaRIN on Voices and Visions, which is a very healing website, and also contains interviews with Monica Richards of Faith & the Muse, Betsy Martin of Purr Machine, and Kristy Thirsk

Stay tuned for more details on Vortex.

February 12, 2004
